Thrive: Community Circle

Thrive: Community Circle

It is time for women and men to sit in circles together so we can collectively heal and grow. Diving deep in mixed gendered community gives us the opportunity to balance our masculine and feminine energies within. We invite you to circle in so we can connect, share, grow, and hold space for the Divine Masculine & Feminine beings in our community.

This circle is about connection to our self through our connection with community while raising each other up. We will cultivate sacred time together to see the gifts we are to each other as human beings. We will heal some old wounds through processing and create new paradigms to shift our own consciousness, that will ripple out in to the world. Join us to share your truth and be heard!

What is Thrive?
Thrive is a closed co-ed group. Once circle starts new members will not be able to join. Each week we will explore a different topic using compassion, vulnerability and active listening skills as a foundation for connection. Topics include, but are not limited to; meaning/purpose, healing, trauma, shame, integrity, connection, vulnerability, truth, boundaries, self-care, and relationships.

Each week begins with a check in, a short grounding meditation, and then depending on what is going on with the group we may jump into our weekly topic. Circles are very fluid meaning although there is a weekly topic the facilitator follows the energy of the group and allows the group to lead.

What does a circle look like?
When in circle we put our attention on one person, and we will explore what her/his experience is like, essentially getting into deep relationship with what is most true and alive for her/him.
The experience of being seen for who we are is one of the most fulfilling experiences we can have. Being in circle teaches us exactly that, how to see and celebrate each woman for the uniqueness she brings to the world.
We don’t give advice or try to fix anyone. Rather, we welcome and stay with what is so we can relax into the truth of our experience, feel supported, know we are not alone and allow the experience of this to change us.

About the Facilitator:
Shanti O'Connor is a nationally certified counselor. She has been running groups and circles for over 10 years. She has a passion for group work and helping other heal through connection. Showing up, being vulnerable and being seen is some of the most challenging work one can do in community, this is why she loves it so deeply.

New Moon Pendulum Class

New Moon Pendulum Class

A New Moon marks the beginning of a new cycle, a fresh start in it’s cycle of waxing and waning. During this time the Moon is empty and receptive and full of potential. This is a potent time to plant seeds of intentions for what you wish to manifest in your life.
As a group the New Moon provides us with an opportunity to take the time to create SACRED SPACE for ourselves. It’s essential.
It is powerful when women come together to support each other on their journey, in the hopes and dreams. We are healed, we are nurtured, we feel comforted and understood. Moreover, when you share sacred space together you magnify the power of your intentions and you energetically create a web of support for not only your circle of women friends but with women everywhere.
Pendulums
This month we will explore intentions through pendulums. Each woman will be get to pick out a pendulum. We will learn what pendulums are, why we use them and how to use them. Each woman will also make an answer board.
$25 cash, check or venmo at the door.

Yoga for Men

YOGA FOR MEN
Yoga for men, is a class that is born out of a need for men to experience yoga with a practice designed specifically for the way men are built. This class is suitable for beginners and above.

Have you been curious about yoga but intimidated, or just felt it wasn't for you? If you work hard and play hard, have stress in your life, and you need a practice to keep you balanced and grounded, this may be the class for you!

We offer:
-Stability over flexibility
-Moving from the core
-Stress relief through pranayama breath control techniques, used by yogis, athletes, and US Navy SEALS
-Mobility through primal movement patterns developed over 2000 years ago

Each 60 minute class consists of pranayama, dynamic warm ups, and then moving through the asanas (postures). we will move at a pace that allows you to play the edges of your comfort in each pose in order to gain strength and mobility.

This develops functional strength that can be applied to your sport, passions, and life!

About the Teacher:
Jamie Foubister has been practicing yoga since the age of 13. He has practiced multiple styles including Ashtanga, Yin, Restorative, and Vinyasa flow. He earned his Integrative Yoga Therapy 200hr teacher training through True Nature Healing Arts, in Carbondale Colorado in 2011. Jamie has taught yoga in group and private classes in Colorado, Florida, and Oregon.

Jamie also draws heavily from his martial arts background. His philosophy for teaching, to quote the late great Bruce Lee, is, “absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own creation.”

Mother Daughter Circle: Embodying the Goddess

What does it mean to become a woman? There are many voices screaming for girls and young women’s attention when it comes to this topic, from media to peers, cultural norms to taboos. How can we support girls in listening to their own inner voice and then being confident enough to express themselves creatively and verbally? How can we guide them in honoring their bodies through hormonal and physical changes? As mothers, how can we support our daughters through this sensitive transition and deepen our relationship during a time where often children grow distant?

Our goal for this series is to help facilitate open communication, reconnection, and a deeper relationship between mothers and daughters. We will combine ancient wisdom, practical advice, and fun activities designed to support girls as they reach adolescence and their mothers.

Ashley will lead the young women in stories, discussion, games, movement, and art exercises designed to facilitate understanding of womanhood and how to best cultivate it in their own life. We will start by finding our voice, then express our creativity, learn to listen and follow our intuition, then finally honor our bodies.

At the same time, mothers will work to deepen their own understanding of themselves, knowing that the best way to provide love and support for their daughter is to be grounded in their own self-mastery. To support this, Shanti will facilitate exercises and discussion surrounding the weekly topic and how it relates to motherhood.

FORMAT

Each Sunday, we will meet for two hours. We will begin gathered together in circle to introduce that week’s topic. Mothers and daughters will then part ways to explore the topics. At the end of our time together, we will rejoin the two groups to share insights and reflections.

THEMES

Week 1: Finding Our Voice
Week 2: Expressing Our Creativity
Week 3: Following Our Intuition
Week 4: Honoring Our Bodies

HOME EXTENSION

To encourage integration of the weekly topics, we will provide suggested questions to answer in a shared journal at home. Our hope is that this journal allows the space for mothers and daughters to communicate openly and authentically with each other while reflecting deeper on each week’s topic.

Maha Shivaratri - Kirtan and Puja

Maha Shivaratri (the great night of Shiva), is one of the major yearly festivals in India. It is a celebration of overcoming darkness and ignorance, a night where we affirm our aspirations and commitment to our spiritual path.

Please join us Monday, March 4, at The Hive for an evening of kirtan, ritual and celebration. We will invoke the supreme power of Shiva with chanting, yogic exercises, and a simple puja ritual, or abhishek, which symbolizes the purification of the soul. It is traditional to fast during the day and stay up all night, and although we may not make it all night long, we will follow the energy that shows up to its natural completion!

In the parking lot, at 7pm, Katie Pinto LeBrun and High Desert Fire & Flow will honor Shiva as Nataraja, King of the Dance, by spinning real fire!

We will begin inside at 7:30pm.

Please feel free to come for all or part of the festivities.

$10 suggested donation, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Malas encouraged: We will do a mala round at some point in the evening, so wear your malas:-)

This is a public event - please feel free to invite others.

Men's Circle
Mar
4
6:30 PM18:30

Men's Circle

Men's circle is an experiential group that is part personal development and support group for men.

The meetings will provide an opportunity for the following:

A coming together of men from different walks of life that share the burdens and blessings of being men.
Learning how to be in the world in a different way that is based in the moment and that allows a wider range of responses.
Learning how to share the deeper parts of ourselves with men without shame or guilt.
Learning how to clarify and state wants and needs as men.
Opening to the possibilities of life versus miming the social and familial roles and rules assigned male children, adolescents or adults.

It is the intention of this circle that men will;

move toward greater awareness of himself—his body, his feelings, his environment;
learn to take ownership of his experience, rather than projecting them on to other;
learn to be aware of his needs and to develop skills to satisfy himself without violating others;
move toward a fuller contact with his sensations, learning to smell, touch, hear, and see—to savor all aspects of himself;
move toward the experience of his power and the ability to support himself, rather than relying on whining, blaming or guilt-making in order to mobilize support from the environment;
become sensitive to his surroundings, yet at the same time wears a coat of armor for situations which are potentially destructive or poisonous; learns to take responsibility for his actions and their consequences;
feel comfortable with the awareness of his life and its expression.

What a circle might look like

We will start with a brief check in. Then, depending on the how the check in goes we may follow a thread that came up or we will dive into our weekly topic through discussion and exercises. Topics will include, trauma, shame, compassion, communication, purpose, resilience, emotions, dreams....... Although there is an intention for circle to be shaped by a topic, the group will guide the group to the topics it is needing to explore.
When in circle we put our attention on one man to explore what his experience is like, essentially getting into deep relationship with what is most true and alive for him.
The experience of being seen for who we are is one of the most fulfilling experiences we can have. Being in circle teaches us exactly that, how to see and celebrate each man for the uniqueness he brings to the world.
We don’t give advice or try to fix anyone. Rather, we welcome and stay with what is so we can relax into the truth of our experience, feel supported, know we are not alone and allow the experience of this to change us.

This group will be held every other Monday for 6 meeting starting March 4th from 6:30pm-8:30pm and ending on May 13th.

Limited to 10 men, 5 at the minimum

Email: rootedandopen@gmail.com to register or for more information

Investment: $100 cash, check to Rooted&Open, or venmo @rootedandopen
