$10-15 Sliding scale

Join us for an evening of Live Sitar at The Hive. J.J. Gregg captivates audiences with his lyrical and meditative style of sitar playing. For nearly nineteen years, J.J. has studied and performed South Asian Classical music on the sitar under the expert guidance of his guru, Ustad Usman Khan. J.J. has performed in India, Japan, Thailand, and throughout the U.S.

J.J. Gregg’s delightful sitar playing relaxes and rejuvenates listeners, young and old alike. J.J.'s concerts intertwine engaging music with brief interludes about South Asian Classical music and the workings of the sitar. With the special emphasis South Asian Classical music puts on improvisation, J.J. creates a journey unique to each audience, each concert, each venue.

Based in Salem, OR, J.J. teaches private sitar lessons in the Willamette Valley, and teaches sitar in the music department at Whitman College, and continues to increase productivity in his organic garlic patch. J.J. recently released a new solo album 'opening up' last April, featuring three ragas: Rageshree, Yaman, and Chandrakauns. You can stream J.J.'s music at: soundcloud.com/jjgregg
